Charity of the Year 2021 – Farm Safety Foundation

Agri Advisor is pleased to announce that our charity for the year 2021is the Farm Safety Foundation (Yellow Wellies).

The Farm Safety Foundation is an award winning charity that raises awareness of farm safety and mental health amongst young farmers and the wider industry, with the aim to reduce the number of avoidable deaths on our farms. Agriculture has the poorest safety record of any occupation in the UK. For an industry that is so vital to the economy, this statistic needs to change and this is what the Farm Safety Foundation are working towards. They work closely with partners in the industry to engage, educate and communicate strong and relatable farm safety messages. They also run national campaigns throughout the year including; Yellow Wellies – Who Would Fill Your Boots?, Farm Safety Week and Mind Your Head. All of the campaigns tackle the stigma around risk-taking, ensuring that the next generation of farmers are resilient and equipped with smart strategies and specific skills to live well and farm well.

All of the staff at Agri Advisor are looking forward to getting involved in these campaigns and supporting the work of the Foundation. Whilst it looks like many events will remain virtual for the foreseeable, we will be promoting the Foundation at every opportunity and work with them throughout the coming year. We will also try and raise some much-needed funds for the charity. Please follow our social media channels to see keep up-to-date on our work.

It is good to know that every penny we raise will go directly to supporting their efforts and we will be promoting their work at every opportunity.”

Stephanie Berkley, Manager of the Farm Safety Foundation, said: ‘We are delighted and humbled that Agri Advisor have chosen us as their charity of the year. The Farm Safety Foundation work every day across the UK to raise awareness of farm safety and poor mental health, as well as delivering training to ag students, YFC members and a range of farming industry audiences about risk taking and looking after their mental health. We are also conducting research into attitudes and behaviours and delivering campaigns such as Mind Your Head and Farm Safety Week. We are a small charity but we have BIG ambitions  so industry support like this is absolutely invaluable and wholeheartedly welcomed.’
